Small is Big : Volume 1 & 2 by Rafaa Dalvi

The title suggests it all. I believe this trend of Micro tales should have started based on the Twitter’s formula of conveying information in 140 characters. Nope, I am not saying the micro tales in these two books contain just 140 characters but more. The idea seemed interesting and the tales presented in these books convey more than what you see.

Title: Small is Big Volume 1 and 2
Author: Rafaa Dalvi
Language: English
No. of Pages: 100 each
Format: eBook (Book 1), Paperback (Book 2)

Note: I received this book free of cost from the Author and this will no way impact my honest review of this work.

I loved the idea of Micro tales and I have come across such thing in tamil weekly magazines called “One page stories”. They are fascinating. I am a sucker for telling information with few words. What attracted me more was the different genres the author tried to write and each of them have their own tone and each tale is written in the Alphabetical order of the title. Few of those micro tales for you.

Abandon: The wish monster feasted on the last remaining well, wondering why people had abandoned their wishes into the well and never pursued them.

Gift: “Closer.” The Old man said.
She sat beside him and let him touch her.
He had promised to gift her the doll that Mummy and Daddy had refused.

Hit: She hesitated at the last moment wondering if she could live with domestic abuse.
Doubt, anguish, reality and the bus hit her simultaneously.

Sorry: He came home to find a note written in Colour pencil-
“to
daddy
im sorry, lets not fight. lets love each other.
from
mummy”
He broke down.

The only thing I didn’t like about this book was the fact that each micro tale took a page and the cost was too high for this short read. Dear Author, please see yourself in the readers shoes. Will you be ready to pay this much amount for the book which is so short? Instead of this big book you could have made it as a Pocket book which would have made more sense. Otherwise, the content of this book is really good.

Have you read any micro tales or written one? Please do share and let’s talk more.

Happy Reading 🙂

Oh I love those one page stories you mean. But I doubt is these micro tales will hold my interest.

They are not typically One page but sure, Book 1 is available in Kindle Unlimited. May be you can give it a shot. 🙂
